Wind Power in Nebraska
Nebraska is growing fast in renewable energy. Currently, wind creates enough energy to power nearly 500,000 homes. Wind power saved Nebraska electricity customers $1.2 billion. Nebraska local municipalities, global and national corporations are committed to Nebraska’s future in renewable resources.
Nebraska wind energy capacity grew 39 percent last year. Nebraska currently has 1,972 megawatts of installed wind capacity in 25 projects, which ranks 14th nationally and represents about $3.5 billion of capital investment. At the end of 2018, projects with another 1,100 megawatts of power were either under construction or in advanced planning stages. In Nebraska, there is 974 active wind turbines.
